Spacious Digs at the Grand Hyatt Denver

The best hotel gym in the US?

That was the highlight of my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Denver earlier this month, but by no means the only reason I loved my stay. I arrived in Denver in the morning and after an early lunch at Vert Kitchen, I showed up around 1PM to see if I could do an early check in.

I got lucky with a metered spot right out in front and soon found myself in the bustling and modern lobby. (Too bustling to take good photos and apparently I’m shaky at 6AM).

My room wasn’t quite ready but they gave me an access card to the lounge on the 26th floor where I could grab a snack and wait in comfort.

At this time of day it was the “make your own trail mix option”

In less than an hour my room was ready and I headed two floors down to my upgraded Corner Room with a View. I loved it!

There was a dark hallway/foyer where the closet was (there was no light, there should be a light!) with minibar and beverage center.

The bedroom was huge, had a decent view of south Denver, and a fun circular chair.

The bathroom was also nice (the toilet was not warped as it appears in the picture).

And I fell in love with the shelf in the shower perfect for shaving or keeping bottles out of the water. :)

This room was also equipped with motion sensor lights near the floor in both the bedroom and bathroom. So when I woke up in the middle of the night, the minute I put my feet on the floor they switched on. Cool, but a little alarming at first when you’ve just woken up.

In the evenings the Club Lounge offers discounted self-serve drinks — $3 for a glass of wine, $5 for a cocktail, etc. In the morning there was a nice breakfast spread, though no bacon or eggs. If you needed something hot you were limited to oatmeal with several topping options.

What I liked best about breakfast was Brian, the lounge attendant who was friendly without intruding and would warmly ask guests about their plans, how their meetings went, etc.

But of course, the highlight of the hotel for me was the rooftop open air tennis court and running track. I only wish I had more time there!

Parking is $37 a day, so rather than stress over metered parking I just used Parking Panda to get overnight, 18 hours of parking two blocks away for $16.
